{beauty love} winter polish trends

Manis - if it's summer, I'm all about the bright and light shades. As soon as the weather gets chillier and gloomier, however, I turn to deep reds, dark neutrals and generally moodier tones. Here are a few of my favorites for this season - especially that metallic! Shop the shades right here.

What's your winter mani mood?

P.S. When do you add top coat? I used to always polish one on right after the second coat. But, my friend Bethany {the designated manicurist at girls' night!} suggests allowing the color to dry fully overnight, and applying a top coat in the morning. Now I swear by it!

  1. Oooh. I need to pick up a bottle of Armed and Ready, and Carry On looks like my style too. I've been on a burgundy + glitter accent nail kick lately, but I should spruce it up.

I've never tried the top coat in the morning. Do you find a big difference in wear?

    1. It prevents smudging and nicks right after you polish - something I tend to do often! When I put the top coat on immediately, sometimes the nail feels dry but the color underneath is not. This way you avoid that!

  2. Perfect! I've been looking for a new winter color and I think carry on may be the winner. Also...thanks for the shout out;)

  3. Essie is awesome and I'm pretty sure I have that light blue/gray color :D

Every time I do base coat/color/top coat right after one another, I always get fabric imprints and nicks in it by the time I wake up in the morning. I am going to try your overnight theory and I bet it will have much better results :)
